Wimmer RS’ Colorful Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Packs 601 Ponies

The standard Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG sedan with its 457HP 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 lump is by no means a slow car, but when it comes to the tuning industry, the more ponies under the hood, the merrier. Bypassing the colorful body wrap, which is optional anyway, German tuning firm Wimmer RS starts by upgrading the C63 AMG’s eight-cylinder engine.

The massaging includes a sports camshaft, reworked cylinder heads, a new manifold and down pipe, high flow catalytic converters and a reconfigured ECU that help nudge output from 457HP and 600Nm to 601HP and 720Nm (531 lb-ft) of peak torque. Wimmer RS also removes the electronic speed limiter allowing the modified C63 AMG to reach a maximum velocity of 329 km/h (204.6 mph). The engine conversion by Wimmer RS costs €19,900 or about US$26,700.

More Power, Please: Wimmer RS Tunes Porsche GT2 RS to 703HP

With 620-horsepower on tap from the twin-tubo'd boxer engine for a 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time of just 3.5 seconds and top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph), we'd argue Porsche's 911 GT2 RS is lighting quick. However, German tuning house Wimmer RS has a mind of its own when it comes to performance even if we're talking about a sports car that will be produced in a limited run of just 500 units.

Wimmer RS Brings a Surplus of Ponies to the Ariel Atom 3

Combine a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged Honda engine at the rear pushing out up to 300-horsepower with a lightweight construction that tips the scales at just 469 kg (1,034 pounds), and you don't need to be an expert to know that even in completely stock form, the Ariel Atom 3 is a one helluva pocket rocket.

Nevertheless, the tuning industry is always eager to push the limits on any type of vehicle. This time the culprit is Germany tuning house Wimmer RS, which has introduced a new power kit for the Atom 3 300.

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Receives Power Boost by Wimmer RS

When it comes to German tuners, the name of the game is power. The more the merrier. In its latest take on the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, Wimmer RS has presented the Level 3 performance kit, which increases the 6.3-liter V8 engine's output to 580-horsepower and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft), up from 457 HP and 600 Nm.

Wimmer RS Tuned VW Golf GTI Packs 386 Horsepower 2.0 TFSI

Similarly to the German tuning firm's latest projects like the Porsche GT2 Speed and the Ferrari F430 Spider, Wimmer's take on the new VW Golf GTI is almost all about performance and very little about appearance. The stock GTI rolls out of the factory with 210 horsepower and 280Nm (207 lb-ft) of torque, but after Wimmer RS gets its hands on the 2.0-liter turbo unit, those numbers are increased to a hefty 386 hp and 455 Nm (332 lb-ft) allowing the hot hatch to achieve a top speed of 267 km/h or 166mph.

This extra power comes thanks to an optimized turbo, the use of a sports CAT, a modified intake system and fuel pump as well as a reprogrammed ECU just to mention a few of the upgrades.

Wimmer RS also installs a sports clutch and a height-adjustable HR sports coilover suspension system while the package can be completed with a choice of 18-, 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance tires.

Wimmer RS Shows Off Spiced Up Ferrari F430 Spider at Essen

Joining the insane 827HP Porsche 911 GT2 Speed at Wimmer RS's booth at the 2009 Essen Motor Show is the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, a subtly tuned version of the F430 Spider model. Performance modifications include a power pack that comprises of an upgraded ECU and a hand-built, sport exhaust system featuring remote controlled valves that allow the driver to choose between a nearly stock and racing note from the quad tail pipes.

The kit slightly boosts the 4.3-liter V8's power from 490HP to 528HP with Wimmer RS announcing the Italian thoroughbred goes from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in a claimed 3.84 seconds, to 200km/h (124mph) in 11.03 seconds and to 300km/h (187mph) within 34.9 seconds.

The tuned F430 Spider is said to top out at 321 km/h or 200 mph.

The German firm's sport package also includes a KW HLS suspension system that allows the front-end of the car to be lifted by 45mm at a push of a button to safely navigate obstacles such as parking ramps or speed bumps without damaging the vehicle.

The tuner finished the package with 19-inch lightweight alloy rims from BBS shod in 225/35 R19 Dunlop tires up front and 305/30 R19 tires at the rear.

2009 Essen Show: Wimmer RS Takes the Porsche 911 GT2 to the Next Level with 827HP GT2 Speed

With 530 ponies under the hood, or rather the rear axle, we imagine that few Porsche 911 GT2 owners will ever complain about lack of power. Still, horsepower-junkies can get their fix with Wimmer RS's latest tuning project amply named "GT2 Speed Bi-Turbo" which boasts a whopping 827HP and a top speed of 378km/h or 235mph.

The German tuner starts with the 911 GT2's 3.6-liter turbocharged boxer engine that receives a series of upgrades including a pair of high-performance turbochargers, a sport exhaust system, modified engine block and a new ECU. The result is an output of 827 horsepower at 7,400 rpm and a mind-blowing 948Nm or 699.2 lb-ft of torque.

Wimmer RS supports that the GT2 Speed Bi-Turbo sprints from standstill to 100km/h (62mph) in just 3.38 seconds and to 300km/h (187 mph) in 20.2 seconds, while maxing out at 378km/h (235mph).

The car also gets a set of 20-inch Sportec alloy rims wrapped in 235/30 R20 high-performance Dunlop tires up front and 325/25 R20 at the rear, along with H&R sport springs and carbon fiber exterior mirrors and a rear spoiler lip.

The price for the GT2 Speed Bi-Turbo has been set at €281,000 that comes to about US$424,000 at today's exchange rates.
