YouTube's New Page Layout - review with Screenshots

Today around 8AM EST (9PM Malaysian time), when I went over to YouTube to search for some videos, I encountered some problem with YouTube. I could not fast-forward nor rewind the video. I thought it was caused by some slow internet connection. But around 11AM EST (12AM Malaysian time), I noticed that the page layout of YouTube somehow looked different. The first thing I saw on the right hand side of the page was “Welcome to the new video page! You can take a quick tour of the page’s new features. Take the tour or dismiss”. Sorry I do not have a screenshot of it.

When I clicked to take a quick tour, a pop up pages appears with info. When I clicked again to proceed to the next page, an error message appeared. So I guess it's still not really ready yet.

Amazingly not much people knew about it and when I Googled for "YouTube's new page layout", there weren't any queries related to this issue. The closest I came across was YouTube's April Fool upside down video page. =)

So most probably YouTube has just rolled this new page layout to a selected group of accounts. I might be wrong about this.

Okay here's some screenshot.

As you can see, there's still an option for you to switch back to the Old YouTube page layout.

Here you can see the account name, that account's other videos and the "Subscribe" button has been shifted to the left, above the video.

When you click on the account's other videos, it will expand in a drop-down with all of the videos from that particular account user. When you click on it again, it will minimize back to normal.

Here you'll notice that the video description and Statistics & Data has been moved below the video. When you click on them, it expands with more info.

Well, they've removed the star ratings and replaced it with “likes” and “dislikes” just like on Facebook. You can also save the video to your favorites, share on Twitter, Facebook or by Email. The video embed code was also moved over to that location.

For the comment section, basically it's still almost the same. It's just that only when you mouse over your mouse at the comment only will the "reply", "likes", "dislikes" and flag will appear.

So basically that's all there is to YouTube's new page layout.

The record-setting paper airplane drifted for 27.9 seconds, 0.3 seconds longer than the previous world record for a paper plane.

It doesn't look all that impressive when Wired put the plane into flight, but it looks more like a matter of an unbalanced build than a flaw with the design.

Ben The Drummer is still Alive and is Back for the Year 2010

Before I start talking, I would like to wish you all a Happy Blessed New Year 2010!!! Yeah I know it's already a few days into 2010 but it's never to late. I believe the year 2010 will be a great and blessed year for everyone.

So have you written down your new year's resolution? If you've not yet written them down, I suggest that you read this article to help you with your new year's resolution. Time do really flies and during this time of last year, I was having my holiday at Hong Kong. I've you've not read about my updates, you can read it at - Off I Go To Hong Kong.

Just to update you guys a little, if you noticed, I didn't update this blog since the mid of November 2009. This is because I was very busy with work and with church stuff. And for the whole of December, I was also busy planning out for the year 2010 and having some fun as well with my friends.

I will be starting a company with my friend called - Dot Com Mastermind - Malaysia SEO Consultants and this company provides an Online Solution for businesses or individuals that wants to have a presence online.

For now the services provided by my company are - website designing, online advertising, online business consultation and many more to come. This is all I can review for now and as things progresses, I'll update you with more info.

So if you know of anyone looking for a website designer, please feel free to refer them to me. =)

8 Common Mobile Phone Myths Busted

Many of us often receive emails and SMS(s) outlining cellphone do’s and don’ts. Have you ever tried to find out if any of these tips hold water in terms of scientific evidence and reasoning? Here we explore the truth behind several common mobile phone myths that are doing the rounds of the Internet:

1. Myth: Mobile phone use at a petrol pump can cause an explosion.

Fact: None of the incidents you read about in forwarded emails have ever been verified as the truth. Moreover, the belief that a mobile phone can ignite petrol is simply unfounded - the elctromagnetic field created by it and the current passed on by its batteries are both far too weak to cause gas to ignite. So why the warning at both gas stations and in cellphone manuals to cease and desist from using your phone while you tank up? Simply because it’s better to be safe than sorry - at the end of the day, the cellphone possesses flammable properties.

2. Myth: Charging your cellphone every day will reduce the life of the battery.

Fact: While this is true of older cellphone models, which use batteries like NiCd and NiMH, cellphones which use newer batteries like Li-Ion and Li-Ion Polymer can be charged every day without undermining performance or battery life..

3. Myth: You get a free phone on a contract/ combined offer when you subscribe to a particular telecom operator’s services for a year or two.

Fact: No free lunches. Read carefully before you sign - a cancellation of the network provider’s services before the contract expires may lead to a hefty penalty fee.

4. Myth: Since I don’t get network coverage from my service provider within my own home, the service provider is no good.

Fact: Mobile phones use radio technology. Just like your car radio, your mobile phone may have poor reception in some places. You should also check up on whether it’s your handset that is causing the problem.

5. Myth: Mobile phones fry your brain.

Fact: While it is true that mobiles phones can produce a little heat, your head is more likely to warm up from walking in the sun.

6. Myth: Cellphone use can affect male fertility.

Fact: Calling all men who carry their mobiles in their pockets or in a holster on their belts: the good news is that you are still as capable as an Arabian stud! As of the present there is no hard evidence that cellphone use can affect male fertility.

7. Myth: Mobile phone use can cause tumours on the side of the head and lead to cancer, particularly in children.

Fact: There isn’t sufficient proof of this as yet, because mobile phones haven’t been around for too long. However, a precautionary approach is recommended (reduced usage, availing of speakerphone or hands-free options, using the Bluetooth facility, opting for a low SAR phone) especially for children. The most lethal risk of mobiles is using them while driving.

8. Myth: When your cellphone battery gets completely drained and your phone switches off, you can punch in a code to dig into reserve battery power. Your phone will then restart and your battery power will be increased by 50 percent.

Fact: This is 100 percent false. After a cellphone goes off from lack of battery power, there is simply no battery power left in reserve for it to start operating again. No code in the world can restore such a cellphone’s activity - you have to recharge the battery. If you have a hard time believing that, read your cellphone manual - if it possessed any such feature, the manufacturers would undoubtedly mention it, especially to help customers cope with an emergency situation.

My Answer To What's Wrong with This Three FREAKING lines?!!

Hey guys do you still remember my post on What's Wrong with This Three FREAKING Lines? Seems like nobody wanted to have a go at guessing what's the answer for the three lines I'm referring to.

LoL you guys don't like guessing things or you guys don't like a reward? Haha

For the 1st line I already gave u a hint. So if you don't get it... I have nothing to say. The 1st line is obviously the internet connection line (Streamyx). Yeah I know many of you using Streamyx are facing the same problem. Many complaints have been made but all their replies are all the same. That's because they have too many complains till they prepared a reply email template to auto-reply to this same problem.

After so many complains, there is still no action taken to improve it. We are just wasting money paying for the Hi-Speed Broadband connection but it's as slow as a dial-up. I heard that some of their servers are down but up till now they still haven't repaired it. Up till this moment it's still lagging like Sh**!

The 2nd line is - electric cable line. For the month of January, I can't recall how many times in a week there is power shortage! Just imagine it can happen twice in a day. Amazing!

The longest time it took them to troubleshoot the problem was I think around 2 to 3 hours. Maybe more, I cant really recall. For the whole February this incident didn't happened, so problem solved. =)

Okay now I shall reveal to you the answer for the 3rd line. It's Maxis line (Mobile Line Provider) . So how bad is it? I can say it's really bad. I can't make calls out or receive calls. And when I send a sms, the other person doesn't receive it until half an hour or 1 hour later. Same prob for me while receiving sms from people.

I think I better stop here if not I'll start rambling an essay here. That's all for now.

Forwarded Email - News from Egypt‏

A few days ago I received an email from my friend about this news from Egypt. So I'll just post it up here to share it with you to read rather then for me to forward it out by email.

Broadcasted in CBS...
A Muslim man in Egypt killed his wife because she was reading the Bible and then buried her with their infant baby and an 8-year old daughter.

The girls were buried alive! He then reported to the police that an uncle killed the kids. 15 days later, another family member died. When they went to bury him, they found the 2 little girls under the sand - ALIVE!

The country is outraged over the incident, and the man will be executed at the end of July.

The older girl was asked how she had survived and she says:- 'A man wearing shiny white clothes, with bleeding wounds in his hands, came every day to feed us. He woke up my mom so she could nurse my sister,' she said. She was interviewed on Egyptian national TV, by a veiled Muslim woman news anchor. She said on public TV, 'This was none other than Jesus, because nobody else does things like this!'

Muslims believe Isa (Jesus) would do this, but the wounds mean He really was crucified, and it's clear also that He is alive! But, it's also clear that the child could not make up a story like this, and there is no way these children could have survived without a true miracle.

Muslim leaders are going to have a hard time to figure out what to do with this, and the popularity of the Passion movie doesn't help! With Egypt at the centre of the media and education in the Middle East , you can be sure this story will spread. Christ is still controlling and turning the world. Please let this story be shared.

Isn't it funny how when you go to forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them.

Isn't it funny how I can be more worried about what other people think of me than what God thinks of me.

'I would like to tell you of the benefits of that plain little old bottle of 3% peroxide you can get for under $1.00 at any drug store. My husband has been in the medical field for over 36 years, and most doctors don't tell you about peroxide, or they would lose thousands of dollars.'

1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. (I do it when I bathe)

No more canker sores and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash. (Small print says mouth wash and gargle right on the bottle)

2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of 'Peroxide' to keep them free of germs. Clean your counters, table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dish rag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters.

3. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.

4. I had fungus on my feet for years - until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.

5. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day. My husband has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine, but was healed by soaking in peroxide.

6. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.

7. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, or plugged sinuses. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes then blow your nose into a tissue.

8. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.

9. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages, but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, reddish, or dirty blonde. It also lightens gradually so it's not a drastic change.

10. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid boils, fungus, or other skin infections.

11. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

12. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors with, and there is no smearing which is why I love it so much for this.

I could go on and on. It is a little brown bottle no home should be without! With prices of most necessities rising, I'm glad there's a way to save tons of money in such a simple, healthy manner.

Do you realize that the only time in our
lives when we like to get old is when
we're young?

If you're less than 10 years
old, you're so excited about aging that
you think in fractions.

"How old are you?"

" I'm four and a half!"

You're never thirty-six and a half. You're
four and a half, going on five! That's the
KEY.

You get into your teens, now they can't
hold you back. You jump to the next number,
or even a few ahead.

"How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!"

You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be
16! And then the greatest day of your life . .
You become 21. Even the words sound
like a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21.

YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened
there?

Makes you sound like bad milk! He
TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's
no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling.
What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're
PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes,
it's all slipping away. Before you know it,
you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't
think you would!

So you BECOME 21....

TURN 30.....

PUSH 40.....

REACH 50....

... and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you
HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing;
you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80's and every day is a
complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ;
you REACH bedtime.

And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s,
you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92."

Then a STRANGE THING happens.

If you make it over 100, you become a
little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
==========================

1. THROW OUT THE NON ESSENTIAL NUMBERS.

This includes age, weight and height.
Let the doctors worry about them. That is
why you pay "them." =)

2. KEEP ONLY YOUR CHEERFUL FRIENDS.

The grouches pull you down.

3. KEEP LEARNING.

Learn more about the computer, making
money, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never
let the brain idle. "An idle mind is the devil's
workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. ENJOY THE SIMPLE THINGS.

5. LAUGH LONG, OFTEN AND LOUD.

Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. THE TEARS HAPPEN.

Endure, grieve, and move on. The only
person, who is with us our entire life, is
ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH WHAT YOU LOVE.

Be it family, pets, keepsakes, music,
plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is
your refuge .

8. CHERISH YOUR HEALTH.

If it is good, preserve it.

If it is unstable, improve it.

If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. DON'T TAKE GUILT TRIPS.

Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county;
to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. TELL THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE THAT YOU LOVE
THEM... AT EVERY OPPORTUNITY.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER

Life is not measured by the number of breaths
we take, but by the moments that take our
breath away.

And if you don't send this to at least 8 people
- who cares?
